The best way to explore the West Coast would be to do a road trip. There are several stops in a San Francisco to Seattle road trip that is worth visiting. Thus, if you’re going to go to Seattle from the Bay Area then better to do it by car.

Baker Beach

Not only is this a great beach to unwind, but you will also get a great glimpse of the famous Golden Gate Bridge. Yes, it is one of the top tourist attractions in San Francisco. Thus, it would not be wise to leave the Golden State without taking pictures of the bridge.

Marine Mammal

Center Check out all the sea creatures that were rescued by this non-profit organization. It is a shame how some sea animals are being mistreated by poachers. Good thing, this group exists so that these creatures are given a chance to properly live their habitats.

The tunnel is very popular on Instagram because the surroundings are simply beautiful. You won’t miss the cypress trees here as they’re simply stunning. There is no doubt you will end up more pictures than what you expected.

Napa Valley

Those who are fans of wine would love what this place has to offer. There is a tremendous amount of wine selection. There are loads of vineyards there and it is certainly a wine lover’s dream come true. Thus, don’t drink alcohol the day before this as you will love a bit of wine tasting. Even if you are not a fan of wine, there are still a lot of things to do in Napa Valley. For example, it would be a great experience to have a mad bath or go wildflower hiking. If that does not sound exciting, how about zip lining through the redwoods? Other than wine, there are also some families who offer olive-oil tasting. Perhaps, the best thing to do here would be to hop on a huge balloon for a wonderful view of the entire Napa Valley.


From Napa Valley, drive West to Mendocino and thank me later. Even if the town is relatively small compared to other towns, there are a lot of things to do here. For starters, how about paying a visit to the botanical garden and take pictures of the blooming flowers? If that is not enough, do some hiking with some newfound friends and get a grand view of the sunset. If you love ice cream then you have to try the sweet dessert at Cowlicks Ice Cream. You will need to fall in line though but don’t worry because the wait is worth it.

Mount Shasta

There is nothing like mingling with Mother Nature and that is exactly what will happen when you get to Mount Shasta. There are loads of waterfalls where you can take a dip. Some places not to miss are Burney Falls and McCloud Falls. Thus, it would be a splendid idea to wear your bathing suit even though it is going to be freezy cold in the water. Yes, even during summer, you can expect your veins to feel the freezing temperature. The hike to Emerald Lake is going to be very long but the stunning view will make it worth it. It is like you are one with nature.

Redwood National and State Parks

Redwood State Parks consists of a bunch of forests. It is a great feeling to see a bunch of old trees as the park has done a good job of preserving these trees. It would a cool idea to commune with nature and have a solitary picnic at one of these forests.

Crater Lake

Crater Lake is famous all over the world because of its pristine water. It is also one of the deepest lakes in the country so if you don’t know how to swim then don’t take a dip here. Also, it would not be advisable to go to this place during the winter as a lot of roads close down due to the snow. Thus, better book your trip here during summer. There are so many views at the lake that deserve a visit. Some great examples are Pinnacles Overlook and Watchman Overlook.

Coos Bay

After all that hiking, it is time to watch some sea animals do their thing. That would be possible with a stop at Oregon State Parks. It is great to watch these animals live their habitat. If you like relaxing by the beach, there are several options like Sunset Bay State Park and Basterdorff Beach.

Northern Oregon Coast

After leaving Coos Bay, there are quite a few stops in Norther Oregon Coast that are definitely worth your time. First, there is the Heceta Head Lighthouse. This lighthouse is simply amazing and the views from atop are definitely breathtaking. If you are going to Cannon Beach, it would be a great idea to spend the night over at Nye Beach. It is peaceful at night and you can relax with the sounds of seagulls.


Portland is known for its hipsters which means you will have a lot of fun in this town. For those who want to check out local products, pay a visit to Portland Sunday Market. Keep in mind it is only open during weekends though. This city is also known for its yummy donuts and the best places to get it are Voodoo and Blue Star. Don’t forget to end your wonderful meal with ice cream. Look no further than Salt and Straw as that is the best answer to your ice cream cravings. Seriously, there are so many food destinations that are worth mentioning in Portland.

There are a lot of places to visit there too. Make sure you book at a nice hotel so you can enjoy all the places. Besides, the entire road trip takes at least 38 hours and that doesn’t even include the traffic.
